A Flemish university
Modern data platformHigher education and research · Microsoft Fabric
The university was renewing its core applications, including the student information system. That programme was also the moment to decide what its data would look like afterwards.
Growing data volumes and a need for faster insight had outgrown the traditional systems. Reporting was limited and the data sat in silos that had been there for years, which made questions spanning education, research and operations slow to answer and easy to answer differently in two places.
We built a modern data platform on Microsoft Fabric that talks to both the legacy systems and the new student information system, so the renewal did not have to wait for the reporting and the reporting did not have to be rebuilt after it. The platform was delivered use case by use case, with business stakeholders involved from the first one.
What they have now is consistent, accessible and scalable data underneath decision-making across the university.
